Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

1. Introduction and scope

This Privacy Policy is issued by Synapse Tech Systems LLC, a Michigan limited liability company that has elected to be taxed as an S corporation for U.S. federal income tax purposes, with its principal place of business at 2222 W. Grand River Ave, Ste A, Okemos, MI 48864 ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). We operate the dating and connection platform known as "VietPair" (the "Service").

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the VietPair website, iOS application, Android application, and related services. It does not apply to third-party sites we do not control.

The Service is intended solely for individuals 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Refund Policy, and Dating Safety Tips. The English version is controlling. This version is effective as of the date above.

2. Categories of personal information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly.

  • Account registration data (name/display name, email, phone, date of birth, gender, password).
  • Profile data (photographs, bio, physical characteristics, preferences, relationship and lifestyle preferences, and other profile information).
  • Verification data (government ID, selfies, facial-matching/biometric data) — treated as higher-sensitivity.
  • Payment/transaction information (limited billing details; full card data processed by third-party processors).
  • User-generated content (private messages, media, reports, feedback). Private message content is higher-sensitivity.

2.2 Information collected automatically.

  • Device/technical data, log/usage data, location data (precise location is higher-sensitivity), cookies/SDKs, push tokens, analytics.

2.3 Information from third parties. Social login providers, payment processors/app stores, identity verification and fraud-prevention providers, analytics partners.

2.4 Higher-sensitivity personal information. We treat as higher-sensitivity: precise location; verification/biometric data; private message content; certain photographs; safety/reporting/enforcement data; and any data that qualifies as Sensitive Personal Information under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

3. How we use personal information

We use personal information for: Service delivery and account management; verification, safety, and integrity (including FOSTA/SESTA-aligned hard bans); personalization, improvement, and analytics; communications; and legal/compliance purposes. We do not use private message content, verification data, or precise location for advertising or unrelated secondary purposes.

4. Automated decision-making

We use automated systems for matching, ranking, fraud/safety scoring, and moderation. We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects without human review where required. Contact solutions@vietpair.com for more information.

6. How we share personal information

With service providers under contract; with other users according to your settings (private messages only to intended recipients); in business transfers; for legal/safety reasons; with your consent; as aggregated/de-identified data. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration in the traditional sense. You may opt out of "sale"/"sharing" under applicable state laws.

7. Cookies and tracking

This section incorporates VietPair's Cookie & Tracking Notice, which describes how we use cookies, pixels, SDKs, local storage, device identifiers, and similar technologies on the VietPair website, mobile applications, and related services.

What they are. Cookies are small text files placed on your device. Similar technologies include pixels, local/session storage, mobile SDKs, and advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID). We use them to operate the Service, keep it secure, remember preferences, understand usage, improve performance, and (where permitted) support advertising/measurement. Some are first-party; others are third-party.

Categories.

  • Strictly necessary / essential: required for the Service to function (authentication, security, consent storage, fraud prevention). No consent required.
  • Functional / preference: remember choices (language, display). Consent required.
  • Analytics / performance: understand usage, measure performance, detect errors. Consent required.
  • Advertising / marketing: if used, support delivery/measurement of advertising. Consent required.
  • Social / embedded content: third-party embedded content may set technologies; non-essential ones require consent.

Mobile-specific. On iOS we respect App Tracking Transparency choices. On Android you can reset/limit the Advertising ID in device settings. Mobile SDKs for analytics/advertising do not initialize in a tracking state before consent.

Consent standards. Non-essential technologies are used only with prior consent (freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous). You may withdraw consent at any time.

Consent mechanism. A first-layer banner appears before non-essential technologies are set. Choices: Accept All / Reject Non-Essential / Manage Preferences. Accepting and rejecting are equally easy; no dark patterns. A preference center allows granular category choices. Consent records (identifier, timestamp, choices, Notice version) are retained. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Consent validity period: 12 months. Non-essential scripts/pixels/SDKs are blocked until consent is obtained.

How to control.

  • Consent banner and preference center;
  • Browser settings to refuse/delete cookies;
  • Device settings for advertising identifiers and location;
  • iOS ATT prompt;
  • Industry opt-out pages where available.

8. Device permissions

Mobile apps may request camera, photo library, location, notifications, and tracking permissions to enable specific features. Denying a permission may limit the related feature.

9. Data retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law. Verification/biometric data is retained only as needed for verification then deleted or de-identified (subject to legal holds). Safety/enforcement logs may be retained longer.

Members can turn off their profile's visibility at any time from My Profile → Account & legal, which hides it from Browse and search without deleting anything. Members can also permanently delete their account from the same page. Account deletion is currently implemented as an account-status change that immediately removes the profile from Browse, Play, likes, favorites, and new conversations; the underlying records are deleted or de-identified once no longer required, subject to residual needs (for example, legal holds, fraud/safety logs, or unresolved billing).

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, delete, portability, restrict/object, withdraw consent, opt out of marketing, opt out of sale/sharing, limit Sensitive Personal Information, and appeal. Submit requests to solutions@vietpair.com. We will verify identity and respond within required timeframes. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.

11. International transfers

Personal information may be processed in the United States and other countries. For users in Vietnam, data may be transferred outside Vietnam; we apply appropriate safeguards and regard residual PDPL requirements.

12. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. Additional safeguards apply to higher-sensitivity data. No method is completely secure. You are responsible for your credentials.

13. Children's privacy

The Service is only for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If we become aware of such collection we will delete it.

14–24. Additional disclosures

Profile visibility and blocking controls are available: the "Show my profile in Browse" toggle and the Block control on every profile, both on My Profile and on member profiles respectively. Push notifications can be controlled via device settings. Safety/enforcement data supports hard bans and our FOSTA/SESTA posture. Limited verification is not a criminal background check or safety guarantee. Offline meetings are at your own risk.
